The NGDF metadata service, askGIraffe Data Locator is now up and running BUT we need your metadata to make it a continued success. Many organisations are committed to the service and have indicated that they will use it both as a data user and as a data provider. We have therefore taken a number of steps to 'ease the way' enabling organisations to participate.
The NGDF Metadata ToolThe NGDF metadata tool is based upon the NGDF metadata guidelines and is an Access based application that can be requested through the NGDF website. This software will allow you to enter all the relevant summary details of your datasets.
The NGDF Node (searchable database)
This has been developed to allow data providers to store their data. Data providers will be able to input their data and maintain it online. This online facility is available now. Entering data on-line will allow the data provider to also maintain it on-line, negating the need to supply NGDF with updates through the Access tool as and when details in the metadata change. This is the preferred way for Data Providers to supply metadata to the NGDF node.
