As a thread to get things started,

What does the NGDF mean to different sectors of the industry. My impression at the moment is that it appears to be a talking shop for data providers rather than users. To be successful in the long run there must be more input from users of geospatial information.

The role of NGDF should be to make the use of geospatial data as painless as possible for existing and perhaps more importantly potential users.

OK over to you ...

Ed

Hello there

This NGDF Forum looks like a useful step towards generating
wider public discussion about NGDF.

Is there a designated member of the NGDF Board who will
regularly take part in these discussions ?

Good Luck

In response to Sue Pipes' query; The Programme Management team of Helen Ridley & Debbie Cable will monitor the threads and elicit responses from Board members where appropriate. They may, of course, choose to contribute to thread discussions anyway.

Hi there,

What are the main differences / similarities in the approaches of the UK and US to establishing NGDF/NSDI? Are there any lessons that can be learned from the US approach (clearing houses etc.), or is the UK sufficiently different to require a whole new system? Opinions please

Sam
